Resolved Seating Issue.
Engineering correction for a bespoke 1954 Buick Special build. When the individual vehicle's restoration history caused a hub diameter variance, RVRN provided an immediate solution to ensure a safe, hub-centric fitment.
From feedback to final fitment.
RVRN's response after the customer reported front hub seating mismatch during installation.
Rear fitment was confirmed. Front wheels failed to seat properly due to a hub diameter mismatch between the wheel and the hub.
RVRN's engineering team reviewed the customer's photos and measurements, identifying a 9.5mm variance on the front axle hubs.
Corrective re-machining plan finalized. RVRN authorized the customer to proceed with local adjustments at no cost.
Front center bores were adjusted at a local CNC shop to match the actual measured hub size (79.375mm).
Installation completed successfully. Vehicle achieved structural safety and perfect stance with no vibration.
Clean classic stance. Max rear lip.
The customer's vehicle was a fully restored classic maintaining a clean vintage aesthetic. The goal was to achieve the largest possible rear lip depth while ensuring a safe, flush fitment consistent with the 1954 Buick's original body lines.
The original setup was based on verified data.
RVRN engineering reviewed previously verified installation data, including width and center bore references from successful classic platform applications. Two fitment options were provided, and the customer approved the final direction before production.
Verified data. Customer-approved direction.
Order placed on 01/22/2026. Engineering drawings confirmed on 02/21/2026.
Verified installation data was reviewed.
RVRN referenced width and hub data from previously successful classic installations.
Two fitment options were presented.
The customer selected the max-lip setup based on the preferred balance of stance and visual impact.
Drawings were confirmed before production.
The build moved forward based on the approved engineering setup.
Wheel Render
Cross-Section Drawing
Rear fitment confirmed. Front hub clearance required review.
After delivery, the rear wheels installed correctly with no fitment issue. During front axle installation, the customer reported that the wheels would not seat flush against the hub face.
The classic hub needed physical verification.
This was not a manufacturing or calculation error. The case showed that pre-1960 platforms exhibit significant tolerance variation. Restoration history and hub swaps can cause deviations from standard OEM database records, requiring mandatory physical verification.
Clearance Review
Installation Check
Recalculated. Adjusted. Reimbursed by RVRN.
RVRN calculated the exact variance and authorized a local re-machining solution. To minimize downtime and shipping risks, the customer was guided to a local CNC specialist to adjust the front center bores.
1-hour internal assessment
The customer's installation photos and physical measurements were reviewed immediately by RVRN engineering to define the corrective machining blueprint.
Revised hub specification
Center bore measurements were adjusted from 69.85mm to 79.375mm to create a safe, hub-centric fitment margin.
Local Engineering Adjustment
A local CNC specialist was authorized to perform the precision re-machining, ensuring a perfect seating face match.
Reimbursed by RVRN
All local machining costs and related adjustment expenses were 100% reimbursed by RVRN as part of our fitment guarantee.
Final fitment confirmed on 06/06/2026.
The customer completed the second installation and confirmed final fitment.
Completed Installation
Second installation completed.
The revised front setup achieved the required hub-centric seating, structural safety, and perfect visual fitment goal.
Preventive & Quality Improvements
Mandatory Physical Hub Verification Protocol
For all classic and modified vehicles, physical hub bore measurement is now mandatory before final machining approval. Customers must provide actual hub bore measurement and clear confirmation of hub type.
Cross-Validation System for Classic Vehicles
For vehicles older than 20 years or non-OEM platforms, RVRN engineering cross-checks OEM specifications, historical variance data from previous builds, and customer-provided measurements.
Secondary Engineering Sign-Off Requirement
For all non-OEM hub systems, a second senior engineer review is now required before production release, including hub bore tolerance, brake clearance, and offset safety window confirmation.
Fundamental Cause Summary
Classic vehicle fitment cannot rely solely on historical OEM data; it must be verified through physical measurement and engineering cross-validation to minimize risks caused by individual restoration history.
Engineering the details others overlook. RVRN remains committed to technical precision, ensuring every bespoke build meets the highest standards of safety and fitment excellence.
