RVRN CUSTOM FEATURE

WHEN STANDARD DIMENSIONS AREN'T ENOUGH

A 24-inch wheel. A 12-inch-wide rear setup. And a customer asking for a deep lip beyond the limits of standard configurations.

For this 2024 Ford F-150 Shelby, the goal was clear: build an aggressive RV-DF14 with brushed spokes, a chrome barrel, and as much rear lip as the final wheel configuration could responsibly support.

Getting there required more than selecting a size from a catalog.

RVRN evaluated three different paths before developing a fully tailored three-piece solution that ultimately reached a 7-inch rear lip.

The Question: How Deep Can It Go?

Beyond the Standard Lip Limit

A deep lip is not simply a style choice.

The achievable depth depends on the wheel's construction, width, offset, blank geometry, and the specifications required for the vehicle.

That means the same wheel design can have very different limits depending on how it is engineered.

For this F-150, the customer wanted more than a conventional deep-lip configuration could provide.

So RVRN looked at the available paths—and what each one could actually achieve.

Three Paths. One Final Direction.

Option 01

Keep the Two-Piece Construction

The first option was to retain a two-piece configuration.

With the available two-piece blank, the maximum rear lip was approximately 3.5 inches.

It offered the preferred construction, but it could not deliver the depth the customer wanted.

3.5" — Not Enough.

Option 02

Move to an In-Stock Three-Piece

The second option was to move to an existing three-piece configuration.

This increased the available rear lip to approximately 5 inches.

It was significantly closer, but the customer's target was approximately 6 inches.

5" — Closer, But Still a Compromise.

Option 03

Develop a Fully Tailored Three-Piece

The final direction required a fully tailored three-piece configuration developed specifically around the intended dimensions.

This path required additional development time, but it removed the limitations of the existing configurations.

The final result reached:

7 Inches— Beyond the Standard.

The maximum supported by the final tailored blank.

03

Why 7 Inches Isn't Just a Number

The final lip depth is the result of multiple specifications working together.
Construction

Two-piece and three-piece configurations have different component and dimensional limits.

Width

A wider wheel creates more room to work with—but does not automatically mean a deeper lip.

Offset

Offset changes where the wheel sits relative to the vehicle and directly influences the final geometry.

Blank Geometry

The available blank determines how far the wheel can be developed. When standard configurations reach their limit, a tailored blank can open a different engineering path.

Vehicle Fitment

The final specification still has to work with the vehicle's requirements and intended fitment.

A deeper lip is engineered—not simply selected.

The Final Specification

The finished RV-DF14 combines brushed spokes, a chrome three-piece barrel, exposed hardware, and a custom Shelby center cap.

The 24 × 12 rear specification and ET−39.9 offset create the proportions required for the build, while the 7-inch rear lip becomes its defining visual feature.

This was not a wheel selected from a standard size chart.

It was a specification developed around the customer's direction.

Our Limit Is Engineering. Not a Catalog.

Custom does not mean ignoring engineering limits.

It means understanding what the owner wants, evaluating the available paths, and developing the wheel as far as the vehicle and engineering requirements can responsibly support.

Sometimes the answer is a standard configuration.

Sometimes it requires a three-piece build.

And in rare cases, it requires a wheel configuration developed specifically for the project.

**The customer defines the direction. RVRN engineers the path.**
